Tickets are still available but going fast for the upcoming Jan. 29 VPIS Home Concert featuring guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Andrew Acosta with flat-picking guitarist Rosser Clark and upright bassist Tom Grey.
Andrew Acosta (New Old Time String Band) is a songwriter/singer/storyteller with a collection of vintage guitars and a deep knowledge of traditional American folk, jazz and bluegrass. His influences include bluegrass pioneer Benny Cain and Piedmont-style blues guitarist John Jackson.
Acosta’s musical career began in Washington, D.C. in the ’70s and he has since produced numerous recordings and played with many local legends.
Acosta and Clark have developed a musical chemistry based on the interplay of their two flat-picking guitar styles. Most recently they rounded out the trio with the addition of upright bassist Gray (Country Gentlemen, Seldom Scene).
The Jan. 29 program will cover Acosta’s original compositions as well as classic Americana and standards from the likes of Bob Wills, Les Paul and Doc Watson.
