The first officially sanctioned Stonewall Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Caucus of the Democratic Party of Virginia was formed this month and News-Press owner-editor Nicholas Benton was elected to serve on its board.

Benton is also a member of the Falls Church City Democratic Committee, in addition to serving locally on the boards of the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce and the Falls Church Education Foundation.
