Marshall High Teacher Named Virginia’s 2010 Outstanding Economic Educator of the Year

Kathryn Peyton, a social studies teacher at Marshall High School, has been named Virginia’s 2010 Outstanding Economic Educator of the Year by the Virginia Council on Economic Education. Marshall High School is a Fairfax County public school.

Kathryn Peyton, a social studies teacher at Marshall High School, has been named Virginia’s 2010 Outstanding Economic Educator of the Year by the Virginia Council on Economic Education. Marshall High School is a Fairfax County public school.

Peyton was honored for her contributions to economics education in Virginia, not only at her own school but also for her efforts to bring economics education to the eight high schools in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) that offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Peyton has been a teacher since 2004; prior to that, she served as a corporate account manager with Bank of America, controller of Sonic Solutions, and a financial analyst with SunGard Corporation. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her master’s in business administration from the University of California-Berkeley.
