Former City of F.C. Resident John Snider Dies

Longtime Falls Church resident John Lawrence Snider passed away December 19, 2010, from complications due to congestive heart failure.

Snider lived in Falls Church from the 1940’s until 1983. He served as a Boy Scout leader at St. James in the 50’s and 60’s, and was a youth soccer coach through Falls Church Parks and Rec for many years and also a Little League baseball coach.

Born on January 25, 1925 in Mt. Rainer, Md, Snider was the son of the late Clyde Elwood Snider and Margaret Root Snider.

He attended Princeton University, the University of Richmond and graduated from George Washington University in 1948. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for the American Automobile Association in Fairfax for 30 years.

He helped raise six children: Phillip, Daphne, Mark, Eric, Adam and Laura. He was a Grandfather to 13, Great Grandfather to seven and Great Great to two.
