To emphasize to new drivers the dangers of distracted driving, particularly in a constrained and changing construction work zone, Transurban-Fluor and AAA-Mid-Atlantic are hosting the “Orange Cones. No Phones.” High School Safety Challenge, a marketing competition among Fairfax County Public High Schools, targeting the DECA/Marketing or Career Academy Programs.
Each competing group has developed a communications program that will reduce the number of Fairfax County High School students that drive distracted in construction zones. The program culminates in a county-wide competition consisting of presentations by each team. A panel of judges will identify one winning proposal, and Transurban-Fluor will guide implementation by the students of the winning campaign.
Presentations by Falls Church High School, James Madison High School, and George C. Marshall High School will be given Thursday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Luther Jackson Middle School Auditorium, 3020 Gallows Road Falls Church.
