F.C. Council Finalizes Move to Repeal November Election Date

The Falls Church City Council voted to complete its repeal of an ordinance to switch the date of municipal elections from May to November. With the repeal, the matter will go to voters in a referendum in November 2011 with the Council promising to abide by the results of an advisory referendum. The vote was 5-2, with Robin Gardner and Lawrence Webb voting no.

Tonight’s vote completed the process that began with the Council’s preliminary vote to repeal last month, at the time it also voted to place a referendum on the matter on the ballot.
