Fallen F.C. Soldier Remembered at Annual Veterans Memorial

The family of fallen Marine Sgt. Ronald A. Rodriguez, USMC, of greater Falls Church will receive a Plaque of Honor and a Gold Star Banner at the Annual F.C. City Veterans Memorial on Thursday, Nov. 11, City officials announced today. Sgt. Rodriguez died at age 26 on Aug. 23, from a roadside bomb blast while on foot patrol in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.

The family of fallen Marine Sgt. Ronald A. Rodriguez, USMC, of greater Falls Church will receive a Plaque of Honor and a Gold Star Banner at the Annual F.C. City Veterans Memorial on Thursday, Nov. 11, City officials announced today. Sgt. Rodriguez died at age 26 on Aug. 23, from a roadside bomb blast while on foot patrol in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.

The program will include remarks from Anthony Principi, former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Other highlights of the program will include a welcoming address by Mayor Nader Baroukh, remarks by Greater Falls Church Veterans Council Chairman Marvin McFeaters, a remembrance for MIAs; a wreath presentation and prayer for departed veterans, and a performance by the Falls Church City Concert Band.

The ceremony is organized by the Recreation & Parks Division, the Greater Falls Church Veterans Council, representatives of American Legion Post 130, American Legion Post 225, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Martin Leppert Sipes Post 9274, Catholic War Veterans Paul and Jacques Martin Post 1652, Northern Virginia WWII Veterans, the Veterans Memorial Committee, the Falls Church Daughters of the American Revolution, and other dedicated volunteers.

This event is free and open to the public. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the memorial, located in front of the F.C. Community Center (223 Little Falls St., Falls Church). For more information, call the Recreation & Parks Division at 703-248-5027 (TTY 711).
