New Mega-Safeway Opens on Arlington Blvd. Sept.

The official opening of the new, state-of-the-art Safeway supermarket in the Willston Centre on Arlington Blvd. near Seven Corners is Thursday, Sept. 9, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:45 p.m. The new store replaces an old one that was demolished at the site eight months ago after 25 years in that location. The new 58,497 square foot store, 30 percent larger than the previous store, features an open-flame hearth and ice seafood case. Also on site are a Starbucks coffee bar, Bergmann’s Dry Cleaners, self checkout lanes, a pharmacy, in-store bakery, floral shop, and full service deli offering made-to-order sandwiches, specialty cheeses, meats and seafood. The store will have 150 employees.
