9/11 Commemoration Events Set in Arlington

Nine years after the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon, the Arlington Police/Fire/Sheriff Memorial 5K race continues to provide a way for businesses and residents to remember the victims and to honor the firefighters and police officers who responded that day. The race course takes runners past the repaired west wall of the Pentagon. This year, the race is hosting another special tribute. Del. Robert H. Brink, an Arlington representative in the Virginia House of Delegates, will dedicate a portion of Washington Boulevard as “9/11 Heroes Memorial Highway.” Del. Brink sponsored the legislation for the road designation, which passed the General Assembly this year.

The dedication will occur at 5:45 p.m. this Saturday outside the Doubletree Hotel, 3000 Army Navy Drive, where the race will begin at 6 p.m.
