BJ’s Wholesale Warehouse on Wilson Blvd. in the City of Falls Church is now planning a “soft opening” for Oct. 9, and a grand opening for a week later, according to a report from the City’s Economic Development Office issued today. On-site employee training and “around the clock” store stocking is expected to begin soon.

In other news contained in the report, a new restaurant, Lesly Restaurant Bar and Grill, is being readied for opening at the location of the former Taco Laredo, 306 Hillwood Ave. Its business license has been issued and ABC license applied for. A new lease of the former Symm’s site is “now anticipated very, very soon,” the report adds, and the Sfizi Cafe slated to move into the 800 W. Broad “Flower Building” has obtained its building permit and a build-out is scheduled to begin imminently.

A “letter of intent” is “being considered” for 3,000 square feet of retail space at The Broadway, and two “letters of intent” are being considered for the space in the Broaddale Shopping Center that will be vacated when the Original Pancake House moves onto Lee Highway. However, OPH owners are reporting difficulty in gaining Fairfax County permits needed to move into the new space and may remain their current location until the end of October.

The three buildings at 350 and 360 S. Washington and 510 W. Annandale, now on the market following the collapse of the effort to construct a senior affordable housing structure there, have all been “spruced up,” with “multiple referrals made to brokers and prospective buyers” for them all, the City’s EDO reports.

According to the F.C. Revenue Commissioner’s office, 16 new business licenses were issued in the City during July and August, including three meals-tax generating ventures, a kitchen and bath store, three medical professionals, two retail online businesses, three new businesses in the Eden Center, a music lesson business, music instruments sales business, a delivery business, and BJ’s.
