The News-Press announced last April that Karen Sherwood, previously a longtime customer of Kennedy’s Natural Foods in Falls Church, purchased the store along with Kasha’s Kitchen.

“It was very important to me to maintain the quality of the food [at Kennedy’s] as well as increase the menu according to customer’s standards. It took a great deal of work, but the wonderful show of support from customers is more than worth it,” said Sherwood.

Both stores carry a variety of health foods, vitamins and all-natural products. The menu for Kasha’s Kitchen, which includes popular items such as the Power Veggie sandwich with fresh avocado, homemade soups, etc., was tweaked but remained similar as Sherwood wanted to avoid alienating loyal customers.

Kasha’s Kitchen’s fresh approach serves up holistic sandwiches like the Hummus Delight with herb sauce, Free-Range Chicken Fajita Pita and Sprouted Green Lentil Burger, among others, most for under $8.

“We try to take prodigious care of our customers through quality ingredients, conscientious cooking/preparation and great customer service,” said Sherwood. “I want people to be healthy and happy.”
