Best of Falls Church: Best Massage

With professional rub downs ranging from the staple Swedish to the alternative medicine-style Cranial Sacral Therapy (dealing with the movement of the fluid surrounding the skull and spine), Massage Envy Spa’s knack for working out the kinks of a bad day – and a bad back – took the lead this year.

Winner: Massage Envy Spa – 1208-D W. Broad St., Falls Church

“It feels great to be able to help so many people through our massage wellness program,” said Owner-Operator Henry Kim.

With around 2,000 annual members, 2,144 clients were serviced by 38 certified massage therapists and four master estheticians just last month at the membership-based business. Kim said most customers prefer the deep-tissue massage or custom sessions based on their problem areas.

“A lot of our clients have some type of medical condition that our therapists can help relieve,” he added.

The spa will be rolling out its “Choices” offering in September, including a Deep Muscle Relief Therapy combining a heating massage oil and Biofreeze’s cooling effect, along with an Aromatherapy Massage infusing scent-therapy oils into clients’ massage lotion.

Coming up, Massage Envy will host its annual “Massage for the Cure” on Sept. 14 to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which funds breast cancer research. Last year, its 630 locations nationwide raised over $500,000 for the charity.
