Best of Falls Church: Best Dentist

Forty-two years at the same location, the intersection of Park Ave. and Little Falls St. across from the Falls Church City Hall, has a lot to do with why Vince Dougherty’s dental practice got the votes for a Best of Falls Church award this month.

Forty-two years at the same location, the intersection of Park Ave. and Little Falls St. across from the Falls Church City Hall, has a lot to do with why Vince Dougherty’s dental practice got the votes for a Best of Falls Church award this month.

It began as his dad’s practice in 1968, with Vince, graduating from the Georgetown University Dental School, joining the practice in 1988 and taking it over entirely in 1992, all at the same location.

When the young Dr. Dougherty sold his Alexandria practice to former partner Dr. Julie Tran three years ago, he was able to concentrate more on expanding his staff, including a hygienist and office manager, and state-of-the-art technology in his Falls Church office, although he’s always maintained his focus on his patients, many of whom are families.

He’s retained some patients who go all the way back to his dad’s practice in 1968, and with new technology he can do almost every required dental procedure “in house.”

Dr. Dougherty has joined the board of directors of the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce and the F.C. Business in Education (BIE) alliance. He volunteers annually for the Mission of Mercy and ‘Give Kids a Smile’ projects in the region, including a week trip to New Orleans following Katrina.

He and members of his staff also volunteer time at the Bailey’s Crossroads Free Clinic and he sponsors a coat collection drive as his office.
