Children and teens from ages preschool to 18 years will be awarded a free book if they complete Mary Riley Styles Public Library’s summer reading program, “Submerge Yourself, Dive Into a Good Book.” Those interested can pick up a book log to record their summer reads beginning Monday, June 21.
However, the program isn’t the only youth-geared events being offered this summer.

However, the program isn’t the only youth-geared events being offered this summer.
Weekly “It’s Showtime” children’s entertainment will kick off Wednesday, June 23 at 7 p.m. First up is Bob Brown with his puppet performance of “Clowning Around.” Future performances include music, a magic show, “Reptiles Alive,” “Mad Science,” Polynesian dancing, birds of prey, and the F.C. library’s first-ever rock concert.
Starting July 6, every Tuesday at 2 p.m. is Wii Game Day for kids ages 7 to 14 who have registered to play. Wednesdays at 2 p.m. is Bingo for ages 4 to 6 with a parent or guardian, and ages 7 to 14. Thursdays are craft days, when the whole family can drop in between 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. to get creative.
But how many sea creatures can the library staff fit in a jar? Guess correctly and win a prize.
Summer story times begin July 6 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. through Aug. 19. Children ages 2 to 5 can include stories read during story times on their Read to Me book logs.
