Mason Girls Soccer Crushes Central, Heads to Regional Final

George Mason High School’s girls soccer team walked all over Central-Woodstock High, 10-0, in a Region B semifinal game tonight to advance to the regional championship.

Sophomore Leah Roth had four goals, junior Elle Silverman scored a hat trick, juniors Hannah Walker and Katie Breen had one goal each and senior Kelley Frank finished out the scoring for Mason.

The two-time defending Virginia state champion Lady Mustangs will now face Bull Run District rival Madison County in the Regional final on Friday, June 4, at Mason. Madison defeated Clarke County, 2-0, tonight in the other regional semifinal game.

On her team’s performance, Mustang Coach Jennifer Parsons said “I really felt like we dominated the game tonight and did a very good job capitalizing on our goal scoring opportunities, something I feel like we have been struggling with lately. I think the win tonight will give us great momentum as we go into the regional final on Friday night.”

Mason will face Madison County for the second time in as many weeks; the ‘Stangs defeated the Mountaineers in the Bull Run District final last Thursday in a penalty shot shootout.
