Man, Toddler Struck by Vehicle on Lee Highway in Arlington

A man is in stable condition and his toddler son is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Lee Highway Thursday morning.

The Arlington County Police Department, is investigating a critical accident that occurred this morning in the 4800 block of Lee Highway. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010, police responded for a pedestrian stuck by a vehicle.

Investigation revealed that a 31-year-old man was crossing Lee Highway with his son, a toddler. The adult victim was struck by the side mirror of a passing vehicle. The father was injured, and the child sustained injuries when the father fell. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The father is in stable condition, and the child is considered in critical condition.

The accident is still under investigation. The driver of the striking vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
