BB&T Looks to Build Drive-Through Bank on Chicken Out Lot

BB&T is seeking approvals from the City of Falls Church to build a drive through bank on the Chicken Out lot in Falls Plaza. Approval has been secured by the Board of Zoning Appeals. A date has not yet been sent for review by the Falls Church City Planning Commission.


Pita Wraps Restaurant Coming to West Falls Plaza

A new restaurant, Pita Wraps, has secured an occupancy permit for the space formerly occupied by Café Nessma in West End Plaza at 1079 W. Broad Street in Falls Church. Café Nessma, which for several months has also operated a Hookah bar in adjacent space, was the 2nd place winner of the 2009 Taste of Falls Church.


Relay for Life Team Selling Gift Certificates for F.C. Restaurant

The Ninja Cupcakes Relay for Life Team is selling $5 gift certificates for a meal at Meat in a Box. The gift certificates are valid until May 15, 2011. Meat in a Box, the independently owned and operated Falls Church City kabob restaurant located at 312 S. Washington St., is donating a percentage of the proceeds of the gift certificates to the Ninja Cupcakes Relay for Life Team. The certificates, which are valid until May 15, 2011, are available now for purchase through Ninja Cupcakes team members. There will be a fundraiser celebration at Meat in a Box, on Saturday, May 15, from 3 – 5 p.m.


Fall Properties Hosting Reception for F.C. PTA Garden Tour Sunday

Fall Properties, which recently relocated from Arlington to Falls Church, is hosting a reception for the Falls Church Elementary PTA Garden Tour participants on Sunday, May 16. Ticket sales from the Home & Garden Tour will be used to purchase SmartBoards and support the Outdoor Classroom programs at Mount Daniel and Thomas Jefferson Elementary Schools. This year’s self-guided tour, which will take place from noon to 4pm, features six homes and two gardens in Falls Church City. The reception will take place 2-4pm. Fairfax Co. Seeking Exceptional Design Award Entries

The Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning is accepting entries for the 2010 Exceptional Design Awards until Friday, June 4. The awards recognize achievement in the total design of a building and its site. Industry professionals and the general public are encouraged to submit nominations. Greater F.C. Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Tuesday

Help Families Fight Cancer with F.C.’s HomeGoods

The Falls Church HomeGoods is participating in the 10th annual “Help Families Fight Cancer” campaign benefiting the Jimmy Fund (, which supports the lifesaving mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. From May 13 through June 5, HomeGoods stores across the country will offer pin-up cards for $1 which will be contributed in its entirety to the cause. The pin-ups can be personalized with each customer’s name or message, and the cards are prominently displayed in the stores.
