Suspect in Wave of F.C. Car, Gym Thefts Arrested in Maryland

A 40-year-old man from Bethesda, Md., has been arrested as a suspect in numerous auto thefts and thefts from gyms in the City of Falls Church and throughout the D.C. metropolitan area, Falls Church officials reported today.  Ronnie Willis Cheek was identified after an investigation was conducted by the Falls Church Police Department.

F.C. Police issued an announcement for the public to be on the lookout for the suspect on April 23. Several media published or aired the announcement along with video of the suspect from security cameras. The investigation indicated the suspect entered gyms and stole from locked and unlocked gym lockers. Due to the public’s assistance, Cheek was subsequently identified and arrested without incident on May 3 in Montgomery County, Md. A search warrant was conducted which revealed evidence in connection to auto thefts and gym thefts in Falls Church, Fairfax County, Alexandria, and Montgomery County.


Anyone with additional information about the suspect or similar crimes is urged to call Falls Church Police Detective Richardson at 703-248-5238. Police remind the public to always lock their vehicles when parked and to not leave any items of value in clear view. When using a gym, citizens are urged not to take valuables into the gym, and that if a gym locker is used, to ensure that it is always locked. Car and house keys should remain on one’s person at all times.
