George C. Marshall High Sports Roundup

The Marshall varsity softball team improved to 13-4 on May 4, when the club beat Langley High 12-6. Christine Grilliot pitched a complete game for the win and went two for four at the plate with two RBIs. Marshall’s Olivia Ellis with four for five with two doubles; Kellie Marsh had two homers, three RBIs and went three for four; Mina Dunn went two for two; Michelle Tilson went two for four with two RBIs.

The team has three regular season games left: home contests against South Lakes High (May 7) and Madison High (May 13) and a visit to Stone Ridge High (May 11).

The varsity baseball team beat Thomas Jefferson High 10-4 on April 30 and topped Langley 8-6 on May 4.

The girls varsity lacrosse team closed the regular season on a tear, winning its final four games to go 6-5. The team beat Fairfax 17-3 on April 20, edged Thomas Jefferson High 16-13 on April 23, rocked South Lakes 19-3 on April 28 and trounced Wakefield 23-0 the next day.

The girls varsity tennis team finished Liberty District team competition in strong fashion, winning their final three matches and completing an 8-6 season.

After narrowly beating Stone Bridge High 5-4 in adverse conditions on April 28, the Marshall girls won again the next day, beating South Lakes 7-2.

On May 4, the Marshall girls visited Madison; winning singles matches for Marshall were Kelly Crider, Sarah Doan, Heather Hopwood, and Katie MacDowell.

Marshall managed to sweep the doubles competition to claim the team win against Madison. Marshall’s winning teams were Crider and Doan, Patricia Garvey and Mili Mittal, and Hopwood and MacDowell.
