Beginning on June 2, all refuse, including all to be recycled and yard waste, bundled brush and special bulk items will be collected on the same day, on Wednesdays, the City of Falls Church officially announced today, A statement from the City’s Public Information Office indicated that the City has outsourced its solid waste management to the American Disposal Service to provide “a more efficient service that increases customer convenience, while decreasing the cost to City taxpayers.” It indicated the new privatized program will save the City about $150,000 annually.
It was also announced that the City will provide rolling carts for both trash and recycling to residents late this summer. The City will hold a public forum on the new collection schedule and practices on Wednesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 223 Little Falls St. For information can also be obtained by calling 703-248-5160.
