Mason District Sobriety Checkpoint Results Released

Approximately 450 motorists were stopped at a police sobriety checkpoint on Columbia Pike and Madison Lane in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County Saturday night. One DWI and one criminal arrest were made and three summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses.

Fairfax County police officers from around the county conducted the checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on from 11 p.m. on Saturday until 12:30 a.m. Sunday. All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Ten auxiliary officers and eight police officers participated in this operation.
