Lady Mustangs Crush Northampton in State Quarterfinal, 70-19

George Mason High’s Region B and defending state champions the Lady Mustangs rolled over Region A runner-up Northampton High, 70-19, in the opening quarterfinal of the Virginia High School League state championship held at Robinson Secondary Saturday.

The win puts the Lady Mustangs in the semifinals against Region C runner-up Chilhowie, which won Saturday’s later match-up, 48-43, against Region D champion J.J. Kelly.

The semifinal game will take place 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center in Richmond. The winner of that game will advance to the state final next Saturday.
