News-Press: What advice do you have for your fellow Wammies co-hosts?

Kojo Nnamdi: First and foremost, enjoy yourself. And second, recognize the artists, not ourselves. As hosts, sometimes we tend to think this is all about us. It’s more about celebrating the wide variety of artists in this region and having fun.

N-P: How will you prepare before hosting? Any traditions before a big debut?

Nnamdi: I do two things. One, the most important, I worry a lot. Second, I try to get rid of the worry and focus on the event. I try to know as much as possible about how the event is supposed to flow, and be prepared for anything to go wrong.

N-P: Between you me (and readers everywhere), what will you bring to the table as a host that the other two hosts, Bill Wax and Jim Bohannon, can’t match?

Nnamdi: They have much more experience than I do at hosting events. The three of us combined have over 100 years of broadcasting experience, but I’m the rookie. So, that’s what I’m bringing to the table.

N-P: Are there any Wammie performances you’re looking forward to in particular?

Nnamdi: I’m excited for the Go-Go music. I hope that I am participating in that part of the evening. But it doesn’t matter where I am because wherever it is, I’ll be jumping up and dancing.
