F.C. Housing Corp. Introduces Revamped Senior Housing Plan to Council, Planners

Names Proposed Structure for Bob Wilden

A revamped plan for a senior affordable housing structure at 350 S. Maple Street, scaled back to 66 units and 1,800 square feet of commercial, was presented by the Falls Church Housing Corp. and its partners to a joint work session of the Falls Church City Council and Planning Commission tonight.

Dr. Steve Rogers, chair of the non-profit Housing Corporation, announced that his board determined to name the project “The Wilden,” to honor the memory of the late Bob Wilden, a nationally-renowned affordable housing advocate who made the proposed project a real possibility by donating $500,000 in matching funds for it.

Tonight’s presentation was preliminary in advance of the formal filing of special exception requests.
