The popular Santamobile will hit the streets starting tomorrow, Dec. 15 between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. thanks to the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department.

Each year, the fire truck — decked out in lights — plays chauffeur to Santa himself throughout the holiday season, visiting the streets of Greater Falls Church in a drawn-up schedule. Its first five nights will be dedicated to specific areas within the City of Falls Church, with Dec. 20 – 23 reserved for make-up nights and excursions into neighboring Arlington and Fairfax Counties.

Candy canes will be passed out by Santa’s helpers, as well as fire safety information.  Anyone who wishes to receive these free items are reminded to greet Santa at the curb if possible. This provides the safest conditions for Santa’s helpers and ensures they have an opportunity to visit the largest number of visitors.

Interested residents, however, should note that weather conditions subject the schedule to revisions, which will be noted online in the Santamobile schedule. The station respectfully “requests that you refrain from calling the fire station for information on Santa’s intended routes.”

A full schedule of Santa’s whereabouts can be tracked online at Operation Santa Claus.
