Mayor Keeps Proposed Election Date Change on F.C. Council Agenda Monday

In a heated debate at the FC Council work session Monday, Mayor Robin Gardner said she would keep a draft ordinance to move Falls Church City municipal elections from May to November on the agenda of Monday’s meeting.

The decision she made at the conclusion of a one-hour debate led to a heated exchange between Gardner and Councilmen David Snyder and Nader Baroukh, both of whom sharply opposed the mayor’s decision.

Gardner accused them both of disrespecting her in her role as mayor after Baroukh insisted on rebutting her summary remarks, and Snyder shouted that the mayor had no right to the final word in Council deliberations.
