A rousing rally with four days to go before the Nov. 3 election was assembled in the courtyard adjacent the Falls Church City-based Democratic campaign headquarters Friday afternoon, and the Dems’ three candidates for statewide office, gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds, lieutenant governor candidate Jody Wagner and attorney general candidate Steve Shannon were all on hand, joined by U.S. Senator Jim Webb and Congressman Gerry Connolly. State Delegate incumbent candidate Jim Scott and Falls Church Mayor Robin Gardner, who were also among the speakers at the pep rally under overcast but dry skies.

Trailing in opinion polls going into the final days, Deeds intoned, “The only real poll is the result of Tuesday’s election.” Connolly said the key to victory is to get out the vote of the 500,000 new voters identified by Democrats since the last gubernatorial election. Wagner told the faithful, “Give us four more days of effort, and we’ll give you four great years of leadership in Richmond.”
