Ever since their one-point win over Wakefield High earlier this month and their 16-14 victory over Edison last week, the Falls Church High School football team charged forward Friday night, delivering a 42-32 victory for Homecoming over Mount Vernon High.

The stunning win for Falls Church highlighted the team’s powerhouses, among them, senior quarterback Ajay Kashyap and senior lineback Marcus Hughes.
Hughes, who holds seventh place in the area for rushing yards, tallied 305 more yards for the evening.
Hughes delivered three long touchdowns for the evening, with 36 and 31-yard runs in the first quarter and an 85-yard run in the second.
Kashap passed the ball for three of Falls Church’s touchdowns for the evening, with senior wide receiver Christian Eusabio for a 40-yard touchdown in the first.
Kashyap followed up with a 19-yard pass to senior linebacker Amilicar Ferrufino in the third and a 8-yard pass to junior wide receiver Kevin Mulumba in the fourth.

Senior Mauricio Sobero made successful kicks on all six opportunities.
The Jaguars’ Hughes also holds the distinction as the Virginia AAA Northern Region’s leading rusher, with more than 1,000 yards under his belt this season.
Hughes had been instrumental in turning the Jaguars around this year, after the team faced a one-win season last year. The Jaguars haven’t seen a winning season since 2001.
