Mad Fox Signs 15-Year Lease for Brew Pub at Waterford Spectrum

Waterford Development announced that Mad Fox Brewing Company has signed a 15-year lease for 9,119 square feet of space for their first brewpub location at The Spectrum, a mixed-use residential and commercial development located at 444 West Broad Street in Falls Church.

“The concept of Mad Fox Brewing Company is different from what is available in the DC Metro area. We will feature twelve varieties of house brewed draught beer with an additional four beers on cask. The restaurant will have a European Pub feel to it with a wooden bar and wood accents to soften the feel and atmosphere,” said Bill Madden, Executive Brewer and CEO of Mad Fox Brewing.

Hoping to expand on the green concept and environmentally-friendly design features reflected by The Spectrum building itself, “The food at Mad Fox will be locally sourced within reason and the focus will be pizzas, paninis, salads and a seasonally changing chef-driven menu that will showcase the chef’s  talents,” he continued. “We are committed to supplying our local farm sources with spent grain left over from the brewing process as food for livestock.”

“We are delighted that Mad Fox has chosen The Spectrum as the site of their first venture here in Northern Virginia,” said Jan Zachariasse, President and CEO of Waterford Development. “We believe that Mad Fox’s commitment to creating a unique dining experience fits well with our overall plan to create an environmentally-conscious, destination community right here in Falls Church,” he added.

Lee McAllister of McAllister Architects, PC is designing the space for Mad Fox. Waterford Development was represented in the transaction by Jennifer Price of Madison Retail Group. Mad Fox Brewing Company was represented by David Dochter of Cushman & Wakefield.  Mad Fox plans to open to the public in 1st quarter, 2010.

The News-Press ran a story in the September 10-16, 2009 edition on Mad Fox and its owners, Madden and Garvin.
