McLean H.S. Invites Parents,  New Students to District

The McLean High School Parent/Teacher/Student Association (PTSA) is holding its first meeting of the 2009-2010 academic year this Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school’s Lecture Hall (1633 Davidson Rd., McLean). All are welcome to attend.
Rising freshmen and grade 10 – 12 transfer students and families are invited to the PTSA Newcomers’ Potluck Dinner right before McLean’s first home football game, on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
The dinner provides students and parents the opportunity to meet members of the school administration, PTSA board and to learn more about McLean High.
Attendees are asked to bring a dish (with serving spoon) to share with at least 8 – 10 people.
Dinner guests are assigned dishes as follows: for last names beginning with A – K,  guests can bring a main dish or pasta; L – R, a salad, vegetable or fruit; and those between S – Z are asked to bring a dessert. Beverages and paper products will be provided.

GMHS Holds IB Orientation, Back-to-School Celebrations

Parents of International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Class of 2011 candidates at George Mason High School are invited to an informational orientation, to be held in the Mustang Café (7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church) at 7 p.m., today, Thursday, Sept. 10. On Friday, Sept. 11, Mason students can enjoy a tailgate party at 5:30 p.m. on the Moore Cadillac field before the evening’s football game versus Luray High School at 7:30 p.m.
The Back-to-School Dance follows in the Mustang Café from 9 – 11:30 p.m. No outside guests are permitted to attend the dance; only current students may go.
The following Thursday, Sept. 17, is the Back-to-School Night at George Mason, from 7 – 9 p.m., with more details to come. To inquire about the evening’s plans, call the main office at 703-248-5500.
