McLean Children’s Academy Explores Science

From Monday, Aug. 17 – Friday, Aug. 21, the McLean Children’s Academy will hold its fourth session, “Hands on Science.” Campers have the option to choose from a five-day, three-day, or a two-day camp, all of which run on various days of the week.
Especially designed for prescchool and kindergarten – first-grade children, the program offers stimulation and varied activities involving interactive science.
The camp will take place at the McLean Children’s Academy (6900 Elm St., McLean). The fees vary according to whether the camper chooses a half day, full day, or extended program. For rates, visit www.childrensacademy.com. For more information, call 703-734-2353.

Midwest Soccer Academy Brings European Experience

From Monday, Aug. 17 – Friday, Aug. 21, full day camps for youths ages 9 – 18 or half-day camps for youths ages 6 – 18 will be encouraged to partake in the Academy’s “The Dutch Touch” soccer training program. The camp is taught by top international youth coaches primarily from Europe, and will involve intensive skill building and lots of fun.
The full-day camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., whereas the half day camps run from 9 a.m. – noon. The programs will take place at the fields at George Mason High School (7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church). For rates and more information, visit www.midwestsoccer.net.

Camp Olympia Recruits Horseback Riders

From Monday, Aug. 17 – Friday, Aug. 21, children ages 8 – 14 are invited to attend the instructional horseback riding camp. The program includes swimming and other sports activities, in addition to unmounted horse activities such as grooming, stable care and much more.
Though the camp, which runs from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., is held at the Camp Olympia School (5511 Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville, Md.), transportation is provided from the Falls Church Community Center (300 Park Ave., Falls Church). The price is $560 for residents of the City of Falls Church, and $570 for non-residents. For more information, visit www.camp-olympia.com.
