MPA Introduces Next Workshop ‘Tell Us a Story’
The McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) presents week-long workshops for children ages 6 – 8. The next available session is from Tuesday, Aug. 4 – Saturday, Aug. 8. The workshop encourages imagination and creativity through the use of a variety of materials and techniques to create art that tells a story. The workshop is offered in morning sessions, which start at 9:30 a.m. and lasts until noon, at the McLean Community Center (1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean). Little Cartoonists Take On Exciting Adventures
From Monday, Aug. 3 – Friday, Aug. 7, children ages 7 – 10 will learn how to apply their artistic skills and create their own sophisticated animations. After they create designs, master basic animation techniques and create a storyline, they will craft their own computer-generated cartoon in this fun-filled workshop, “Adventures in Cartooning & Digital Animation.” The camp begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. at the McLean Community Center (1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean). Communikids Hosts Language Immersion Camp
A half-day program created for toddlers and children aged 3 – 5 years old is now available. The Language Immersion Summer Fun Camp 2009 presents a chance for kids to experience traditional summer camp fun in a foreign language immersion setting. Communikids allows for children to participate in outdoor play, water play, music, arts and crafts, while also becoming exposed to different cultures and languages.
The upcoming Session 5, which runs from Monday, Aug. 3 – Friday, Aug. 7, offers Spanish and French. The cost per weeklong session is $225, and registration will be accepted on a space-available basis. The program starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. at CommuniKids (510 N. A Dose of Technology and Sports for Teens
The TIC Summer Camp is offering children and teenagers ages 7 – 16 a chance to play various sports, such as soccer, softball, gymnastics and volleyball while also learning more about various aspects of technology, such as robotics, programming and web design. The day-long camp, which runs from Monday, Aug. 3 – Friday, Aug. 14, is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, with different sets of activities planned for each.
In addition to its original Maryland location, the camp is also held at the Oakcrest School (850 Balls Hill Rd., McLean). The cost for the camp is $750, with not including extra options, such as tennis, drama and dance. There are also pplicable discounts for siblings and multiple sessions. Harmonia School of Music & Art Sparks Imagination
The Harmonia School of Music & Arts is offering Musical Theatre and Creative Arts Camp for your little musicians and actors aged 5 – 14 years old. The camp runs in two-week sessions in both full and half day programs at the Harmonia School of Music & Art (2942 Hunter Mill Rd., Oakton). The next session, Session 4, will run from Monday, Aug. 3 – Friday, Aug. 14.
