Communikids Hosts Language Immersion Camp

A half-day program created for toddlers and children aged 3 – 5 years old. The Language Immersion Summer Fun Camp 2009 presents a chance for kids to experience traditional summer camp fun in a foreign language immersion setting. Communikids provides an opportunity for children to participate in outdoor play, water play, music, arts and crafts, while also becoming exposed to different cultures and languages.

The upcoming Session 3, which runs from Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 24, offers Spanish, French and Chinese. The cost per weeklong session is $225, and registration will be accepted on a space-available basis. The program starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. at CommuniKids (510 N. Adventures for Little Scientists

As a part of the Science Adventures Summer Camp, children aged 5 – 12 are invited to visit Gizmo’s Robot Factory and have fun with lots of hands-on activities during this science-filled camp. During the week of Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 24, the program will offer action-packed science fun that’ll inspire all little scientists in the area. Registrants have the option to choose between a half-day camp and a full-day camp, with the fees being $192 and $309. Harmonia School of Music & Art Sparks Imagination

The Harmonia School of Music & Arts is offering the Musical Theatre and Creative Arts Camp for your little musicians and actors aged 5 – 14 years old. The camp runs in two-week sessions in both full and half day programs at the Harmonia School of Music & Art (2942 Hunter Mill Rd., Oakton). The next session, Session 3, will run from Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 31. Both educational and full of fun, the students attending this theme orientated camp will learn arts through hands-on activities involving music, piano, art, theatre and choreography as taught by the experienced staff. Sports, Games & Swim Camp Seeks Adventurers

Formerly known as “Sports, Games and Swimming Camp,” this co-ed sports program is for children ages 6 – 13 who love to spend their day being active and having fun. The program has a variety of team sports, traditional camp games and adventure events, the most popular of which are the Headfirst Adventure Rock Climbing Wall and the Headfirst Water Play Slide. The camp is specifically designed to conform to the ability level of each camper, and promotes the development of athletics, leadership, sportsmanship and self-confidence.

Featured are both common and uncommon sports such as baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football and European team handball. The next session runs from Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 24, with each day consisting of activities in both the morning and afternoon. Stratford University’s ‘Kids In the Kitchen’

From Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 24, Stratford University invites children and teenagers aged 11 – 16 for an exciting Baking Camp where all the essential fundamentals of baking and cooking are taught. Students will participate in both classroom or computer lab discussions and interactive activities, which include preparing their own lunches using the methods taught. The afternoons will be spent in the kitchens, with an entire weeks worth of planned fun involving delicious cookies, cakes and biscuits.

The camp requires that its registrants be at least 4’ 6” to avoid any discomfort in working in the kitchen. A day at camp runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and the fee of $385 will be reduced to $300 if registered for two weeks. The camp takes place at Stratford University (7777 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church). Technology & Sports for Teens at TIC Camp

The TIC Summer Camp is offering children and teenagers ages 7-16 a chance to play various sports, such as soccer, softball, gymnastics and volleyball while also learning more about various aspects of technology, such as robotics, programming and web design. The day-long camp, which runs from July 20 through July 31, is divided into the morning and afternoon sessions, with different sets of activities planned for each.

In addition to the Maryland site, the camp is also held at the Oakcrest School (850 Balls Hill Rd., McLean). The cost for the camp is $800, with extra cost options for other activities like tennis, drama and dance, with applicable discounts for siblings and multiple sessions. F.C. City Public Schools Present Summer Day Camps

The Falls Church City Public Schools Extended Day Care Program is accepting registrations for its weekly Summer Day Camps that run in session from June 22 – Aug. 28. Elementary Camps, for children in rising grades 1 – 4, are at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School (601 S. Oak St., Falls Church). Middle School Summer Day Camps are available at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School (7130 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church) for children entering grades 5 – 8.

Offered are a wide range of programs, including, but not limited to: Hooray for Hollywood Camp, Create & Design Camp, Mad Scientist Meets Nature Lover Camp and Fun & Fit Camp.
