Former City of Falls Church Treasurer H. Robert “Bob” Morrison died at his home Sunday night, following a long battle with cancer that originally afflicted him in 1987.
He was elected four times as the City’s treasurer beginning in 1993 and in his later years his avid interest in photography produced many exhibitions in the City and many were published in the Falls Church News-Press.Morrison played a seminal role in helping to found the News-Press through personal consultations with Nicholas Benton in the period leading up to its 1991 launch. Born April 7, 1938, Morrison is survived by his wife, Meredith, two sons and a daughter and many other relatives. His family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 14, at the family home from 6 to 8 p.m.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at the Galloway United Methodist Church, 306 Annandale Rd., on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bob Morrison Scholarship Fund (checks payable to the Falls Church Education Foundation, 800 W. Broad St., Suite 205, FC 22046).
