Arlington Police Look for Banneker Park Carjacking Suspect

carjacking-compARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Robbery Unit is investigating a carjacking that occurred on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in North Arlington.

 

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Robbery Unit is investigating a carjacking that occurred on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in North Arlington. At approximately 2:15 p.m., an unknown man approached a woman walking alone in the 1800 block of N. Van Buren Street.

The suspect assaulted the victim, forced her into the back of her convertible, and drove away.  The victim escaped from the vehicle after traveling several blocks.  The vehicle was later recovered in Maryland.

 

The suspect is described as an African American male between 35 and 40 years old, 5’6″ to 5’8″ with a thin, muscular build.  He was last seen wearing a white tank top and loose gray sweatpants.

Witnesses can also call Arlington County Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.  Callers to Crime Solvers do not have to give
their names and do not need to testify in court.
