Students from Shrevewood Elementary in Falls Church pose with their homemade signs for the school’s “Walk for the Homeless.” On Monday, Nov. 17, the youngsters – between the ages five and 12 years – hit the surrounding neighborhood streets with their chaperones for an hour-long walk after raising money for Homestretch, Inc., an organization based in Falls Church that helps families without homes get back on their feet with the help of transitional housing. Students made and decorated their own collection banks for the event. The walk itself started on the bike path at Virginia Lane and continued to Idylwood Park. Students will continue to collect money for the organization throughout the school year. (Photo: News-Press)
