Off Track: Ford’s New Brew

The term “kitchen composition” usually refers to some sort of culinary creation whipped up by a master chef.

However, it also applies perfectly to David Ford’s original video for single “Go To Hell.” Ford starts the action by mixing a cup of coffee and, using effects loops, instruments and various kitchen items, ends up mixing an indie music masterpiece.

Oh yeah, and he did it all in one take. The vocals, the bass line, the drums, the piano, the kitchen appliance percussion, start to finish, no stops.

The YouTube phenomenon is the first reason to arrive early to Ingrid Michaelson’s show at the Birchmere on Tuesday, Nov. 25. His originality and wry wit – as illustrated by his song “I want more (how I learned to stop worrying and love my credit card)” – simply seal the deal.
