Seventeen Fairfax County companies are on Inc. magazine’s 2008 list of the 500 fastest-growing companies in the nation. Fairfax County companies, including several from the greater Falls Church area, comprise 63% of the 27 firms on the list from Virginia and 38% of the 45 firms from the Washington, D.C. area. More companies on the 2008 list are from the Washington area than any other metropolitan area. Among states, Virginia ranked fifth on the list and Fairfax has the same number of firms listed as the state of Maryland. The rankings are in the September issue of Inc.
