Fairfax Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Series, George Mason University Center for the Arts, Saturday, Jan. 26, 8 p.m.

Three popular classical works by famous German composers will be performed by the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra this Saturday night at 8 p.m., preceded by a free lecture at 7 p.m. Brahms’ great Fourth Symphony will be the highlight of the program, which also included Wagner’s popular suite from Der Meistersinger and a relatively obscure but interesting work by Mozart, a bassoon concert in B minor, featuring bassoonist Dean Woody. Tickets are $25 and up and can be obtained at 888-945-2468 or www.fairfaxsymphony.org. The concert will take place at GMU’s Center for the Arts on its main campus in Fairfax.
