Elephant Art at Hotel Palomar Arlington, November 28 – January 1, Hotel Palomar Arlington at Waterview

After the stuffing of bellies and people awake from their turkey-induced comas, there’s going to be a mad dash for malls and department stores and it’s gonna be bad. Very bad. And, for what? The same old stuff you raced out to get last year? C’mon, be creative! Don’t bow down to conformity and rush to pick up the newest iPod or “it” gift. Instead, plan a calm, laid back trip to Hotel Palomar in Arlington. Here, you’ll be able to pick up a gift for the person who has everything or nothing at all. Starting at 6 p.m., an exhibition of elephant art will open. No, not pictures of elephants, but pictures by elephants. Palomar, the an “art-centric, pet-friendly boutique hotel” will be displaying these fine works of elephant painted art, available for purchase, through January 1. Featured on 60 Minutes, these works of art have gone for thousands, but will be more affordably priced this go round, with proceeds benefiting The Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project and  Arlington’s Classika-Synetic Theatre. I guarantee this will be the most unique item under the tree this holiday season, putting any new iPod to shame.
