Anticipating a significant rent increase due to the sale of the 803 W. Broad St. building where it is currently located, the Falls Church School Board signed a lease for 8,000 square feet in a new building across the street that will begin construction soon. The new building on the north side of the 800 block of W. Broad, a four-story creation of The Young Group, will have a similar style of art nouveau architecture as Young’s Read Building recently completed in the 400 block. The ground floor of the new building is also being considered for the re-location of the retail function of the U.S. Post Office’s Falls Church branch, currently in the 300 block of W. Broad, and the City of Falls Church is considering a lease of 2,000 square feet of an upper floor. 803 W. Broad sold for $12.6 million to Falls Church One, LLC, last week.
