Jody’s Jam of the Week

2008 NFL Kickoff Weekend, September 6 – 10

It’s done. The summer season is over. Pools, beaches, piña coladas and sun bathing are a just a memory replaced with visions of backpacks, yellow busses and spit wads. Oh joy. But what’s that? What glorious event at 8:30 p.m. tonight marks the beginning of five months of Sunday afternoon bliss? Yup, you got it, it’s the 2008 National Football League season kicking off Indianapolis, with the Super Bowl champ Colts taking on the New Orleans Saints. Thankfully, there’s a two-day pause so you can catch your breath before 13 more pigskin battles take place on Sunday, including the Redskins facing Miami, right here in D.C. (ok, Maryland.) Oh yeah, you better save some of those frosty beverages and chips for the Monday night doubleheader on ESPN.  And, once Tuesday rolls around, and you climb out from under the pizza boxes and beer cans, it’ll be time to restock and refuel, ‘cause Week 2 will be here before you know it.
