F.C. Resident Pete Geren Named Secretary of Army

An “arrival ceremony” will be held at Ft. Myer, Virginia, Thursday, Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. in honor of the Hon. Pete Geren, appointed the 20th U.S. Secretary of the Army. Geren, a former U.S. congressman from Texas for four terms, has been a resident of the City of Falls Church for six years, with three daughters in the Falls Church school system. He was first appointed by President Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the post on July 16 after serving as Undersecretary of the Army since February 2006. He became Acting Secretary of the Army in March 2007.
