Jody’s Jam of the Week

Falls Church City Memorial Day Parade & Festival, May 28 at 9 a.m.

There’s no shortage of action here in Falls Church on Monday as the City’s 26th annual Memorial Day Parade and Festival will be in full effect. While the weather forecast might be a little wet, it’s still no excuse to stay indoors. Like always, the 3k Fun Run is at 9 a.m. so make sure you’re up bright and early. After the trot around the city, don’t forget to hit up the vendors. In addition to the priceless wares you can find at the tables (not to mention the sand-in-a-jar, tie-dyed shirt and silly string booths), be sure not to miss the haute parade cuisine including pizza, chicken-on-a-stick, steak-in-a-sack, funnel cake, shaved ice and more. After you’re good and full, find a grassy spot and good view of Park Avenue for the parade starting at 2 p.m. While Underdog is noticeably absent from this year’s parade lineup, I hear Rose Rhapsody is a fine substitute.
