Jaguars Send 12 to Regionals

The boys and girls track teams of Falls Church High School have 12 athletes that have qualified and will compete at the Northern Region Outdoor Track Championships May 24-25 at Lake Braddock High School. Senior Demetrius Roberson has qualified in four events that include the 100m and 200m dashes and the 4x100m relay. He is also currently ranked fourth in the region in the boys long jump. Demetrius has led the team in points and has been dominating in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 6.25 inches. Seniors Matt Gorman and Kevin Cornett have qualified in two events each, Gorman in the discus and shot put, and Cornett in the 1600m and 3200m runs. Senior TJ Glenn will compete in the 200m dash and 4x100m relay with teammates, sophomore Jeremy Winterbottom and senior Alan Garcia. Senior Brian Blincoe will compete in the 800m event with a very competitive field.  He is also after a school record in that event, which has not been broken since 1985. On the girls team, senior Casey Davenport will also compete in four events: the 4x800m and 4x400m relays, the 800m run and the discus throw. Sophomore Valerie Thibeault and freshman Riley Louden will compete in three events, Thibeault in 800m run, and Louden in the 400m dash. Both will compete with Davenport in the relays along with sisters Rebecca May (senior) and sophomore Audrey May. This team has been the most successful Falls Church track team in several years.
