Raymond Evans

Raymond J. Evans of Falls Church, Virginia, died March 6, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 27, 1938 in Arlington, Virginia. He was the son of Alicia Brown and the late Jesse Evans. He attended George Mason High School and was an Air Force veteran. Mr. Evans was a computer systems analyst and participated in the operation and maintenance of NASA Mission Control during the Gemini IV flight, the first space flight controlled from Houston, Texas and the first American "EVA" demonstration. He is survived by his son Derek Evans and wife Rebecca and two grandsons, Caden Evans and Jesse Bracegirdle, all of North Carolina.

Mr. Evans is also survived by his mother, Alicia Brown of Falls Church, Virginia and his sister Shirley Smith of Miami, Florida. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rae Ling Evans and his brother Donald Evans. Devoted son and loving father, he was always there when it mattered most. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Memorial service to be arranged at a later date.
