The Business Civic Leadership Center, a 501(c)3 affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is soliciting nominations for its 2007 Corporate Citizenship Awards. Nominees can enter in five categories: Corporate Stewardship, Large Business; Corporate Stewardship, Small/Midsize Business; US Community Service; International Community Service; and Partnership. Award candidates must be members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Companies, chambers, and trade associations may nominate themselves or be nominated by nonprofits or other third parties. Electronic submissions for BCLC’s 2007 Corporate Citizenship Awards program will be accepted until 5:00 pm Friday, June 29, 2007 and will be revealed at the Eighth Annual Corporate Citizenship Awards Dinner on November 7 in Washington, DC. The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a breakfast on Thursday, March 22, 2006 at Westfields Marriott during which Governor Kaine will address the business community regarding the transportation package currently under consideration. Merni Fitzgerald, Director of Public Affairs for the County of Fairfax, will be the featured speaker at the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce’s March Networking Luncheon. Fitzgerald, who served eight years on the Falls Church City Council including two years as Vice Mayor, will speak on Workforce Housing and other strategies to prevent and end homelessness. The Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce honored four distinguished individuals at its March 10th Awards Gala and 60th Anniversary Celebration. Steve Wooddell received the James S. Elkin Award for Humanitarianism, Paul Barkley received the Chamber Appreciation Award, Bob Wildon received the Carroll V. Shreve Award, and Barbara Cram received the Pillar of the Community Award. JER Partners has acquired the Fairview Park Marriott Hotel in Falls Church for $108.5 million. The 394-room full service hotel, the only hotel permitted within Fairview Office Park, recently underwent renovations of its guest rooms and corridors. JER Partners will undertake further renovations to the hotel’s public areas including the lobby, restaurant, lounge, fitness center, gift shop and meeting space.
