Obituary: Fred R. Gilmer

Former Falls Church resident Fred R. Gilmer, 89, died January 8, 2006 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 16, 1917 in Harriston Va. a son of the late George C. and Alice Davis Gilmer.

Fred was a member of First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach since moving to Myrtle Beach in 1996 from Falls Church, Va. He was a proud WWII Army Veteran and loving, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of over fifty-eight years, Vivian F. Gilmer of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Lu Ann Carrig and her husband, Bob of Arlington, VA and four grandchildren, Soraya Carrig, Reina Escobar and Martha and Daniel Posada.

Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday January 10, 2007 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home with Dr. Bruce Crawford and Rev. Larry Cashatt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Funeral services in Virginia will be 11:00 AM Friday January 12, 2007 at National Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA with visitation 1 hour prior to service at National Funeral Home.

Burial will follow the service in Virginia at National Memorial Park at 12:00 PM

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Family Life Center or Lottie Moon Mission Offering c/o, 500-4th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
