This Week’s Business News and Notes

January 4 – 10, 2007

The Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will meet for the first time with its new slate of officers from 8:00 to 9:00 am on Tuesday, January 9, 2007. Gary LaPorta (Miniatures from the Attic) is the incoming Chair, taking over the helm from Helene Safford (Clay Café Studios), whose two-year term ended at the end of 2006. Additional 2007 Officers include: Dr. Ralph Perrino (Northern Virginia Tutoring Service) as Chair-Elect, Tom Gittins (Art and Frame of Falls Church) as Vice-Chair, Bob Young (The Young Group) as Vice-Chair, Gary Fletcher (Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust) as Treasurer, and Lani Phillips (Beyond the Garden Gate) as Secretary.

 

The Falls Church business community was out in force at the 2006 Annual Watch Night. Thanks to the supporting businesses, along with Barbara Cram who spearheaded the effort, the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation, the Village Preservation & Improvement Society, and the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce, which hosted the events, and the Unity Club which provided a vast majority of the volunteers, Watch Night was a terrific way in which to usher in the new year and Virginia’s 400th Anniversary. Watch Night Sponsors included the Acacia Federal Savings along with the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation, the Falls Church Economic Development Authority, and the City of Falls Church. Venue Sponsors included BB&T, Diener & Associates, Sunrise Living of Falls Church, +Smith Gifford, and the Village Preservation and Improvement Society. Host Supporters included Art and Frame of Falls Church, Berman & Lee Orthodontics, Creative Cauldron, Foxes Music, 1-800-905 Geek, Point of View Eyewear, Quick Copy, and the Victorian Society at Falls Church.
