George C. Marshall High School senior Jacqueline Hargrove turned in a superior effort Friday night, winning three events, including a state-qualifying performance in the high jump. Hargrove started the day with a Liberty District-qualifying mark, and win, in the 55m dash. To bookend the performance, she ended the night by bring the team back to win the 4x400m relay. Fellow senior Shannon McVey led off the winning 4x400m relay team after winning the 300m dash from lane three and four, she also placed third in the 55m dash.
Senior Jamie Schiller competed in her first meet of the season, taking third in the 300m, and was a member of the winning 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams. Freshman Brittany Johnson took second in the 55m dash to help the Lady Statesmen sweep the event. Johnson was also a member of the winning 4x200m relay team. Comprising the victorious 4x200m team were sophomore Chandler Dennison, Schiller, Allyse Golden and Brittany Johnson, while the 4x400m was made up of McVey, sophomore Tara Cappiello, Schiller and Hargrove.
Cappiello placed second in the 1000m, also running a 2:33 on the lead off leg of the 4x800m relay team. Sophomore Caroline Gieseler also came up big for Marshall, winning the 500m dash.
